Welcome to Estate Planning Marketing Pros, a podcast focused on helping estate planning attorneys build stronger, more sustainable firms. This show is designed for attorneys who care not only about the quality of their legal work, but also about the long-term health and growth of their practice.

My path into estate planning began long before I started a marketing agency. In the early 2000s, I worked as a congressional aide during significant estate tax changes at the tail end of what were commonly referred to as the Bush tax cuts. During that period, the estate tax temporarily dropped to zero, stepped-up basis became a major policy issue, and uncertainty created real consequences for families and closely held businesses. Later, while representing agricultural organizations as a lobbyist, I saw firsthand how estate planning decisions shaped the future of multi-generational farms and family enterprises.

Over time, I transitioned into building and leading a marketing agency. As I began working more closely with estate planning firms, I noticed a consistent pattern. Many attorneys who provide excellent legal counsel struggle with positioning, visibility, and business strategy. Their expertise is strong, but their firm’s growth is often left to referrals alone or to marketing efforts that were never intentionally designed.

This podcast exists to address that gap.

Estate Planning Marketing Pros is built specifically for firms with roughly one to ten employees that want to grow thoughtfully. Some listeners may be launching their own practice and trying to establish a clear identity from the beginning. Others may have been practicing for decades but have never taken a structured look at their marketing, pricing model, or long-term growth strategy. Still others may be considering hiring their first associate, narrowing into a niche, or building more predictable demand beyond referrals.

Each episode will focus on practical, applied topics that affect the business side of estate planning. We will discuss website positioning and messaging, referral systems, digital visibility, pricing structures, specialization, scaling decisions, and succession planning within firms. I will also be interviewing estate planning attorneys and related professionals to explore what is working in today’s market and where firms are finding leverage.

The goal is not to chase trends or promote gimmicks. It is to help estate planning attorneys think clearly about how their firm is structured, how it is perceived, and how it can grow in a way that aligns with their long-term objectives.

Estate planning is a profession that deals directly with legacy, continuity, and long-term thinking. The business side of an estate planning firm deserves the same level of intention. Through this podcast, I hope to provide insight, perspective, and practical guidance that supports that effort.
